We use observation-based methods to help us work as your partner to meet your child's unique needs.
With HighScope's Key Developmental Indicators™ as our guide, we gather evidence of your child's accomplishments. Rather than using task-based examinations, we rely on teacher observations of children's behavior and activities to uncover their emerging skills, abilities, motivations and interests. Our teachers are trained to document child development by participating in play, observing and taking notes, collecting samples of art work, drawings and writing samples and photographs of your child engaged in learning activities. All of this information is contained in Individual Developmental Portfolios. These portfolios are available to you at twice yearly parent-teacher conferences. These are a valuable opportunities for sharing information, setting goals and devising strategies for child development.
For children attending more than 2 days per week we offer the globally recognized and validated assessment tool, HighScope's Child Observation Record (COR) ™ Using an online subscription for each child, teacher's organize their written observations according to 6 COR categories :
► SOCIAL RELATIONS
► CREATIVE REPRESENTATION
► MUSIC and MOVEMENT
► LANGUAGE and LITERACY
► MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE
Each of the above categories contains skills that represent important developmental steps. The Child Observation Record™ provides guidance for teacher's to identify learning goals, devise curriculum, track growth and prepare your child for success in school.
